Presently running topics include rabbinic hemeneutics, the Taryag mitsvot, responsa literature on conversion, the text and commentaries of the Pesach Haggada, Arts and Halacha, the role of women, religion and society in Israel, as well as the melodies of the Torah reading and of the Haftaroth.

Shabbaton, with our special guest Rabbi Harold A. Liebowitz, professor of archeology at the University of Texas, Middle Eastern Studies.

He teaches courses on: Biblical history and archaeology, history and archaeology of Judaism and Jews in the Biblical and Graeco-Roman period, Jewish ethics, Near Eastern and Western Art.
His research interests include: Archaeology and art history of the land of Israel in the Biblical and Greco-Roman periods; art and archaeology of the Ancient Near East with particular emphasis on the Late Bronze to Mamluk Periods in Israel, Jordan, and Syria; daily life in Ancient Israel; material culture and literature of the period of the Mishnah and Talmud; medieval Jewish illuminated manuscripts from Spain, and Old Testament narrative painting from the Byzantine period until the Renaissance.

Unlike the usual "Who is Jewish?" question, this lecture deals with whom the authors of the traditional sources did not consider to be Jewish.
