September 23-24French shabbaton: besides gastronomical specialities, the topic of the shabbaton is Rashi (Rabbi Shlomo Yitzhaki), the most famous medieval commentator, who passed away 900 years ago, as well as Emanuel Levinas, one of the most original French philosopher of the 20th century.

Chavruta-pogram

You can study with our educators about topics that you choose, in a small group or in a study pair.

Presently running topics include rabbinic hemeneutics, the Taryag mitsvot, responsa literature on conversion, the text and commentaries of the Pesach Haggada, Arts and Halacha, the role of women, religion and society in Israel, as well as the melodies of the Torah reading and of the Haftaroth.

Hebrew Courses in the Pesti Shul

Pesti Shul is proud to announce that we are launching our Hebrew courses on several levels (from absolute beginners to very advanced), with the support of Emunah and WZO. Please, feel free to contact us if you would like to join.

Detailed program:

On Friday, at 18.20, mincha, kabbalat shabbat and maariv. At 19.30, dinner with French tastes, during which Hegedűs Pál presents about Emanuel Levinas, one of the most original thinkers of the 20th century, born 100 years ago.

The Saturday morning service starts at 9.00, followed by a kiddush and the dvar Torah of Gabor Deutsch around 11.00.

From 11.30, we remember Rashi, who passed away 900 years ago, by studying his commentaries with Balázs Fényes. At 12.30, lunch.

Please, let us know in advance if you join the dinner and the lunch. Price of the meals: 1500 HUF.
